A last minute email from an LYS and some frantic planning and VOILA!
I’m still verklempt over it.
I arrived at 10:45 (for the 11am sale) and was surprised to find it was just me and 3 other shopper so far! Whaaaaa??? Well, no dilly-dallying. I went straight to the sock yarn and snatched up some Koigu and Lorna’s Laces. I picked up 14 balls of Rowan Cotton Rope in Parma for a top I’ve been wanting to make…and forgot to buy the book with the pattern. Ahh well. That’s 3 balls of Kid Merino in a glorious red colorway (I was getting too much purple). Of course, they had the luxurious HandMaiden hand-dyed silk on the front display…so that lovely pink/green skein became mine. (Darn your clever product placement Hilltop!) And then I ventured out front and picked up a ton of patterns for $1/apiece. That’s a single lonely ball of Rowan Linen Print you see to the far right. I have no idea what I can do with it (60 yards??? bah!) but it was ONLY $2. I couldn’t help myself. Finally…I bought my first skeins of Koigu Kersti. Wow. I think I may have a new top 5 yarn! So… I walked out $220 lighter…but I think it was worth it.
Because they’re too gorgeous to ignore…
Lorna’s Shepherd Sock in Aslan and Gold Hill
Hand Maiden hand-dyed 100% silk. It even comes with an uber-simple…but really sweet shawl pattern.
And Koigu Kersti in this DIVINE violet/green colorway. The greens are a bit lighter in real life. Forgive me…my photography skills are on par with a 4 year olds.
By the time I left, the store had gotten pretty darn packed and you couldn’t turn sideways without smacking someone with your purse. So if you saw a slightly sweaty Asian woman twisting around with a basket full of yarn and were smacked by her annoying large purse…my bad! Did any of you other Seattle knitters go to the Hilltop sale? Show me your goods if you did!
And now onto the other post of the day…
