How to survive “The Process”

January 10, 2007 at 11:05 pm Leave a comment

We have a meeting with another adoption agency today. After the WACAP weekend, we received a tip that Catholic Community Services has a small, but well-established, Korean Adoption program. And, in the past, they’ve given priority to adoptees trying to adopt.

Of course, the fact that we’re absolute secular heathens is worrying us a bit. But, we both went to Catholic high schools (go figure) so we’re hoping we’ll be worthy by brief association.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up, that’s for sure. I’m pretty sure that they only way to survive this process is to keep your hopes as suppressed as possible. Really, imagine those comically large pyramid-shaped 10,000 lb weights. Slam a stack of those on your hopes during the adoption process. It’s a sanity saver.
