The long road home

Because of THIS, what should have been a 30 minute drive turned into a 5 hour ordeal.

Mike and I were driving home from an adoption meeting in Seattle, in separate cars. I was following Mike, and he took a few random paths. I wanted to call him on his cell and tell him what direction to go, but the cell network was so jammed up I couldn’t get through. Combine a bad route choice with the snow and we were stuck in traffic for about 4.5 hours.

THEN…when we got to our neighborhood, we couldn’t get up the big hill to our place because of all the little front wheel and rear wheel drive cars that got stuck at the bottom of the hill. People just abandoned their cars in such a manner that our entire entrance was blocked. So we got to trudge up the steep hill through 12″ of snow…it’s only 1.5 miles…but UGH.

So I’m tucked inside, warm and safe (thank goodness we still have power) and I’m thankful working from home on days like this is an option for me.
