Look Ma! I remember how to spin!
Well, mostly. This is a small skein (only 2.2 ozs) of a gorgeous Merino/Silk (50/50) blend from Capistrano Fiber Arts. Lori has the most amazing eye for color and this stuff is so sleek and soft.
But honestly, I don’t know if I’ll ever spin with silk again. I found the whole process aggravating. I’m sure some of the issues stem from my relatively amateur ranking as a spinner. But MAN. Drafting silk almost gave me a hernia. Even with the wool content, it was constant tugging and tugging and tugging and then some swearing (which is great for the fetus to listen to, I’m sure) and then more tugging. As you can tell, I clearly never got the darn stuff to spin into an even single, but the 2-ply result is still an attractive sport weight yarn.
Life is chugging along. Everything everyone said about the morning sickness passing came true (thank goodness!) I’m feeling so much better and my energy is finally returning. I might (I’m not making any promises) even be able to pick up on my crafting finally! I’ve got the Kimberly bag by Amy Butler in the works and my fingers are starting to itch to knit cute little baby things.
